Coca-Cola’s HALiKa! Caravan Raises P242, 367.35 For Cagayan de Oro City

Coca-Cola’s HALiKa! Caravan Raises P242, 367.35 For Cagayan de Oro City

On one of five nationwide visits that will take it through key cities in the country, the Coca-Cola HALika! Caravan successfully raised Php 242,367.35 during its fourth stop in Cagayan de Oro last December 4, 2009.

More than 1,500 participants attended the event, which was held at the Limketkai Center Parking Lot D Lapasan, Cagayan De Oro City. Participants sweated it out for a good cause, burning a total of 242,367.35 calories. For every calorie lost, one peso was donated to the Feeding Program for the Macabalan Elementary School Kids.

The Feeding Program is spearheaded by the University of the Philippines Alumni Association-Cagayan de Oro (UPAA-CDO) Chapter, this program aims to assist the 343 below normal school children of the Macabalan Elementary School, which is classified as Depressed Disadvantaged and Underserved. By providing hot meals, the program aims to reduce the number of malnourished children in school and promote good and proper nutrition among these students. This is also UPAA-CDO’s way of actively involving parents, teachers, and school administrators in addressing the concerns on hunger and malnutrition.
The Coca-Cola HALika! Caravan will then head on to Rajah Sulayman Park in Manila on December 19, 6AM, for the culminating charity workout.

This year marks the biggest HALika! campaign to date with the introduction of the Caravan, which will bring the message of healthy and active living to Filipinos.

The fun and practical HALika! workouts are based on everyday activities such as household chores, walking to and from work and even dancing. These workouts help improve strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular health.

HALika! Mag-Healthy and Active Living Na! is supported by media partners, Manila Bulletin, the Philipine star and the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

HALiKa! Mag-Healthy and Active Living Na! is part of the Healthy and Active Lifestyle advocacy of Coca-Cola which encourages everyone to make balanced nutrition, regular physical activity and proper hydration part of everyday life.

Traveling Light and Easy

THESE days, traveling by air to other countries is easier than you can end your thoughts. Plus there are literally thousands of destinations in over a dozen countries to choose from. Some of the hottest destinations nowadays are Trinidad and Tobago, United Arab Emirates, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Singapore and the United States .

There are many airlines available every day to go to these countries. Some of the airlines which offer real quality service yet have got the most reasonable air fares are Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Continental Airlines and Pegasus Airlines.

Some of these airlines only offer domestic flights within the United States but most of them offer inter-Atlantic flights such as the Southwest Airlines flights.

Of all the countries that are mentioned, Trinidad and Tobago is the most beautiful one since it is the most exotic of them all. And what’s more, it is located in the tropics. So Westerners are surely captivated not just with the serene beaches and falls but also with the beautiful tan-colored folks that live in this country.

The second most exciting country to go to is the United States . Here there are lots of domestic flights which you can scour such as Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Airlines and Continental Airlines.

However, I would suggest that you try Pegasus Airlines since this is the newest and their fleet is obviously new, their flight attendants are fresh from training and every amenity in each flight is naturally new.

Pegasus Airlines flies the Turkish flag and we certainly know that Turkey is also a hot tourist destination. Therefore, it is expected that the service provided by Pegasus Airlines is really with utmost quality. The name of Pegasus Airlines stems from mythology of nearby Greece .

Hotels in Mindanao

THERE are lots of hotels in Davao and Cagayan de Oro. Both are the largest cities in Mindanao, the second largest island in the Philippine archipelago. Between the two cities , Davao is the larger city than Cagayan de Oro. But both cities offer less expensive five-star hotels for tourists who want to stay here and be practical, there are also less expensive ones.

In Cagayan de Oro, Limketkai Group is planning to construct a seven-level hotel here but scratch that, there are lots of quality hotels existing in the city already. In fact, the tallest structure in Cagayan de Oro is the seven-story Maxandrea Hotel. For starters, Maxandrea Hotel’s elevator is transparent and one can have an awesome view of the city while one slowly goes up.

Another great hotel here is Hotel Koresco. It is located uptown far away from the bustle of traffic and near a suburb so the quality of air that you breathe here is definitely excellent. Hotel Koresco is a South Korean-inspired hotel so there’s a taste of South Korean food.

Located nearby is the plush Xavier Sports and Country Club. Although it is not a hotel, it has its own guest house for VIPs. The guest house has its own elegant service fit for a king. Speaking of reality, Pryce Plaza Hotel has its own presidential suite. The presidential suite is used by the president of the country whenever she’s in the city for a visit but it may be used by other guests who can afford it.

Of course, Davao City has its own share of pleasurable places of stay. The most recognizable one which dots the city skyline is the Marco Polo Hotel. Marco Polo’s reputation in Davao City is so stamped that it has its own branch in Cebu City .

Dakak Park Beach Resort

I’ve been to Dakak last weekend and it was a totally exhilarating experience. Of course, I’ve been there more than once already but going there time and again still seems to be the first time. The beach was indeed full of happy people as it is the first of summer. Many ladies strip down to their bikinis without inhibition and I gamely joined them of course with my super friends (there were five of us and we go a long way back.

We did not just enjoy sunbathing, we also had the fun of our lives as I tried both kayaking and jet-skiing for the first time. At first, I was a little bit nervous as all first-timers do but when my super friends prodded me along, excitement took over and I vroomed the jet ski as I enjoyed the waves attempting to splash my already tanned body. Later, I tried the more subdued kayaking with my ever trusted chum Carol riding shotgun and we awkwardly paddled away but of course we stayed close to shore because we were quite nervous.

As we retreated towards the evening after dinner, I tried their sauna. Emerging from it, I felt totally refresh and I enjoyed dancing the night away.

Cheap flights

WITHOUT doubt, the most affordable cheap air flight out there is Ryanair, the flag carrier of Ireland. Like Richard Bramson’s Virgin Airlines, Ryanair is fortunate to have at its helm a very eccentric yet business-minded person. I kind a forgot his name but the way he did business in the past decade is way too cool.

In this economic crisis, Ryanair has the best cheap flights and cheap tickets for any destination not just in Ireland, and the United Kingdom but all across Western Europe, including Germany . Ryanair’s presence is surely felt even through the most obscure cities in England only English people know.

However, it’s not just Ryanair which offers cheap flights. Airlines going to such island destinations as Palma de Mallorca and Seychelles are relatively inexpensive and offer cheap tickets. It’s easy to canvass such cheap tickets online. There is that ever reliable Google.

Now let’s go tropical. Tropical destinations such as Boracay and Phuket do have airlines which offer cheap flights. Unlike the 747 or even the Airbus, these airlines use only small planes so definitely, the tickets are cheap. Some of the examples of these airlines are Subic Air and Asian Spirit. Everywhere you go in the world, there are always cheap flights awaiting you.

Boracay Sunset

Boracay Sunset:

  • has been always fascinated about the beaches. Philippines being an archipelago are dwelling place of beaches. For me the most popular would be the island of Boracay or other name this “Bora” in short of Boracay.
